Hey folks. I'm seeing 9psi boost on my AutoMeter boost gauge. I have the 6psi pulley. The gauge is quality, so I don't think it is the reason (also reads 21" vacuum at idle). Also, I have a Greddy PE cat-back and RSR headers, so I shouldn't have much back pressure.
The problem is (if it is a problem - I have yet to watch the A/F gauge over 6000rpm. I run happily rich at WOT AFAIK) that the JR FPR is seeing this boost and sending fuel pressure through the roof. My FP gauge maxes out at 99psi, and it gets there in a hurry!
I have the regular pressure Walbro pump, so it shouldn't handle this very well.
Any ideas why I'm seeing 9psi boost? Could my Cat be clogged? It's the OEM cat w/46K miles on it.
Thanks

Different engines breath differently, and also gauges aren't that accurate, some of that is most likely boost creap too.

I thought boost creep was a turbo thing?
Still, I wonder how important that flow chart for the different Walbro pumps is. I'm at 99+psi where the chart says zero flow, but at least up to 6000rpm, I'm still getting enough fuel. (Update: hit 6500 at WOT on commute and A/F still read richest stoich (yellow) led)
BTW: Lundgren: You've always had me worried about detonation in my ride, but I just put two and two together and realized that you have tuned cam gears and run on 92 Octane. I feel much safer now

Still I would watch out for low RPM 4th gear pulls. I've mucked around with my car so much, who knows. I think 92 octane gas may have something to do with it, and every car is different. I still recommend the J&S though, and think that 8 degrees of timing is wise.

9psi still sounds high even considering all else. I'd check the cat. Also, I would make it a point to get the HP pump at the very least...don't know why JR hasn't changed them yet...even at 6psi, I think it's pushing it if you drive hard!

Not that he says he has them but doesn't cam gear tuning build more manifold pressure as well?

Check for a hose leaking by the boost gauge....that would also show higher boost readings...

BLWN GSR: Can you explain that. It doesn't make sense to me.
I could see a leak causing lower vacuum readings, but not higher boost readings.
Plus, the FPR is seeing this boost too because it raises the crap out of my fuel pressure.
